With the development of embedd technologies, communication technologies and microelectronic technologies, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been applied and studied extensively in the recent years. And with the decrease of the costs of hardware and with the needs of practical applications, Multi-Radio Wireless Sensor Networks have attracted peoples¡¯attention. As a new research area, Multi-Radio networks leave much challenging work to the researchers. As the bottom foundation of Multi-Radio sensor networks, Media Access Control plays important roles in Multi-Radio sensor networks.In the first place, we design an energy effective MAC protocol in Multi-Radio wireless sensor networks, which we call RC-MAC. This new protocol can reserve data channel on demand,and it can configure channel assignments and media access strategy flexibly according to the different network environments and the needs of applications. Meanwhile, RC-MAC proposed RC-RS schedule algorithm to assort with multiple radios in order to let them work effectively. RC-MAC protocol takes advantages in improving network bandwidth, reducing transmission delay, increasing throughput and decreasing conflicts.In the second place, we propose a power control MAC (P-RC-MAC) for wireless sensor networks. It is based on SMAC, and introduces power control mechanism for enerfy saving. P-RC-MAC protocol is distance prediction algorithm for determining the transmission power to solve exposure and hidden terminals problem. P-RC-MAC can provide relatively better energy efficiency and throughput.Finally, we use experiments to compare and analyze the performances of the RC-MAC/ P-RC-MACprotocol in the following four aspects: throughput, delay, packet delivery ratio and energy consumption. Our experimental results show that RC-MAC/ P-RC-MAC has better extension and practical applications.
