Abstract:
There are some different indices to describe the thermal resistance of clothing and its system in different ways. The effective thermal resistance ignores the impact, which is caused by the increase in surface area of the clothed body, so it is not sufficient to fully describe the actual heat transfer process. In order to characterize the thermal transfer more accurately, the concept of clothing area factor was introduced.Clothing area factor (fc1) is the ratio of the outer surface area of clothed body to the surface area of the naked body. At present, the research on the clothing area factor was mainly focused on its test methods, while the systematic research of influence factors about the clothing area factor was less. Therefore it is necessary to carry out more systematic and in-depth studies to further reveal the relationship between influence factors and clothing area factor, and master their internal mechanisms.The research object in this paper was clothing area factor, based on the "person environment-clothing" system. Three main factors were summed up:fabric style and performance characteristics, the different sizes of the wearers and the changes of body posture. Then the appropriate indicators and measurement methods for factors were selected, The fabric performance were tested by KES-FB system; based on the principle that clothing area factor was affected by body size, clothing ease was selected as the indirect characterization indicators of body size; different angle of the posture were measured by Stage Motion Capture System and Baseline (?) Flexometer gravity inclinometer.Around the body posture, according to the height which the upper limb located selected six different dress postures., In order to meet the experiment requirements and ensure the experiment accuracy, the human model was reformed.Experimental results were analyzed from four aspects respectively:the relationships between clothing area factor and fabric performance, clothing ease, body posture, as well as thermal resistance.It was shown that,¢ÙIn the fabric performance indices which played major roles on the clothing area factor, static drape coefficient, thickness, weight, radial bending stiffness, their influence degrees on clothing area factor weakened in turn, and they all showed a positive correlation with the clothing area factor;¢ÚWith the increase of clothing ease, the influence of fabrics on clothing area factor became weakened gradually, and get the critical ease range in which clothing area factor changed from increase to decrease;¢ÛClothing area factor was obtained under the condition of dress posture e, f (put head in hands, hands hold above head) and a, b, c, d (standard posture, walking posture, running posture, working posture) had a significant difference, but there was no significant differences between e and f, a and b, c, d;¢ÜObtained regression equations between clothing area factor and thermal resistance under conditions of dress posture, the regression equation of dress posture (a, c) was consistent with the one which was recommended by international standards ISO9920, so the method to get clothing area factor with3D body scanning maybe can replace the traditional methods.In summary, studying on the effect factors of clothing area factor is an effective complement and reference to the study on clothing thermal resistance.
